Other Commonly Asked Questions
Official policies are in our student handbook. These are provided as a quick reference only.
I need to sign my student out early. What are the procedures?
1
We ask that all students be picked up by 1:30 PM. We're unable to sign out students after this time.
Only parents, guardians, or people listed on the Emergency Card can pick up your student.
If sending someone outside of listed Emergency Contacts, written permission must be received either by handwritten note that morning or by email (office@allegrocharterschool.org). Email must come from the parent/guardian email address listed in PowerSchool. (If using ride-share, a phone call from the parent or guardian must also confirm the written arrangement.) Allow a minimum of one hour between the email and the pick-up time.
My student drives. Do I need to come to school to sign them out early? (Also see student parking below!)
2
If your student is driving and needs to leave early, please have them turn in a handwritten note from the guardian that morning. Include guardian contact information.
For emergency early departures, a parent or guardian must call the school right away and then send written confirmation to office@allegrocharterschool.org with your student's name, the date, and departure time. The communication must come from the guardian email address in PowerSchool.
Where should my student park?
3
We do NOT offer student parking on our campus.
Students who will self-transport must park off on city streets.
Students are responsible for following all posted signs and North Charleston ordinances.
Students may not park in the parking lots or spaces of neighboring businesses. Unauthorized vehicles will be ticketed, towed or both.
May I deliver food/gifts to my child?
4
We do not permit outside food or beverages in the building to comply with federal school lunch laws and protect our learning environment from distractions and potential allergens. If your student is returning from an appointment with outside food, they must eat it before entering the building or classroom.
For celebration items like balloons and flowers, please don't have them delivered to school. Your student won't have access to them during the school day.
If you'd like to send celebration snacks, they must be store-bought items only. Please email your student's teacher for approval and provide complete ingredient information so the teacher and all students can review for food allergies.
